I called my local ceramics supply shop and asked for Iron oxide. The guy told me there are different colors of it like yellow, red (indicated here on pyroguide), and a few others. What's the difference between them? /dj

Both color and formula. In pyrotechnics you will mainly want red iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) for thermite or as catalyst, or you can use black iron oxide (Fe₃O₄) which will also work for thermite. /Pudi
